RENTAL GUIDE
Questions to ask before viewing a rental in Gurugram
Before arranging a visit, confirm the property is still available, what space the rent covers and who you are speaking to. Use the visit to check the details that photos and descriptions cannot establish.

What should you confirm before booking a visit?
- Whether the property is still available and the actual move-in date.
- Whether you are viewing an entire home, a private room or a shared room.
- The rent basis, known recurring costs, deposit and any brokerage.
- Whether the poster is an owner, agent, current flatmate or another contact.
- The meeting location and which property or room is being shown.
What should you check at the property?
Compare the actual space with the listing photos and any walkthrough. Ask which furniture and appliances remain at move-in; a furnishing label alone does not list what is included.
Check the water supply, ventilation, natural light, visible condition, and the facilities important to you. Ask about lift access, parking and internet rather than assuming they are included. Visit the area at a time relevant to your routine when possible.
What questions matter in a shared home?
- Which room or bed is available, and who uses the common areas?
- How many people share the bathrooms and kitchen?
- How are rent, utilities and household costs divided?
- What arrangements apply to guests, cleaning, pets and working hours?
- What happens when a flatmate moves out or a replacement joins?
How should you use listing dates and locations?
Availability can change after a post is published. A last-updated date does not by itself confirm that a property is still vacant. Ask for current confirmation before travelling.
Some listings provide only a locality or approximate location. Confirm the address and your journey before arranging the visit; HouseHunt does not infer an exact address from a sector name.
How do you report a changed or inaccurate listing?
Use the report option on the property page if a price is wrong, a property has already been rented or supplied details do not match the viewing. The listing ID gives the team the context needed to review the report.
